You may take the Aerial Sling Level 2 course without completing MAA’s Beginner Aerial Sling course. However, before receiving your Level 2 certification, you must demonstrate that you meet MAA’s Beginner-level certification requirements.
Having intermediate aerial skills or experience alone does not allow you to bypass the Beginner prerequisite. You must complete one of the following pathways:
Option 1: Submit an Equivalent Beginner Certification
If you have completed a recognized Beginner Aerial Sling certification through another organization, you may submit your certificate to MAA for review.
Your certification must meet MAA’s Beginner-level standards.
Approval is determined by MAA.
A $99 equivalency review fee applies.
Once approved, you may proceed with your Level 2 certification requirements.
Option 2: Challenge the MAA Beginner Certification
If you have the required experience but do not hold an approved Beginner Aerial Sling certification, you may challenge MAA’s Beginner certification.
The $275 challenge fee includes the Beginner practical examination fee. You will not be required to take the Beginner course, but you must complete all other Beginner certification requirements:
Fitness Theory certification or an approved equivalent
Current CPR/AED certification
Verification of 20 hours of practical aerial sling teaching experience
Beginner written exam with a minimum grade of 80%
Beginner practical exam with a minimum grade of 80%
Teaching hours may be verified through a letter from the studio or organization where you have been teaching.
Level 2 Examination Requirements
The Aerial Sling Level 2 certification does not include a written examination. Candidates must successfully complete the Level 2 practical examination with a minimum grade of 80%.
Your Level 2 certification will be issued once you have:
Successfully completed the Level 2 course
Met the approved Beginner prerequisite
Passed the Level 2 practical examination with a grade of 80% or higher
