About the Course

Join Whitney Cox, a CSEP Exercise-Based Therapy for Depression Specialist, for a workshop that explores how structured physical activity can be used as an effective therapeutic tool for managing depression. Participants will review the latest evidence-based approaches to depression treatment and gain insight into how exercise can be integrated as part of a holistic care plan. Designed for those interested in understanding depression treatment options beyond traditional approaches, the session will highlight the role of exercise-based therapy (EBT-D) for depression. By the end of the workshop, participants will: Understand the foundations linking exercise and mental health. Gain awareness of different evidence-based treatment options for depression. Receive a practical framework for implementing EBT-D in real-world settings.

Whitney is the Master Trainer for Fitness Theory and Flexibility at the Movement Arts Academy, where she also serves as a workshop presenter, sharing her expertise with students and fellow aerialists alike. A passionate and highly experienced leader in the fitness world, Whitney specializes in flexibility, chronic pain management, and performance training. Her approach blends science, movement, and creativity, drawing from a wide range of credentials, including: CSEP Exercise & Depression Specialist™ CSEP High Performance Specialist™ NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist CSEP-Certified Personal Fitness Trainer Certified Pole Instructor (Movement Arts Academy) Whitney’s evidence-informed methods are designed not just to improve movement but to empower people, helping them feel stronger, more capable, and more at home in their bodies. She has also competed in major events, including the Canadian Pole Fitness Championships (2017), Pole Theatre Canada (2018), and PSO Sagittarius (2020).
